Bloom NZ Literacy is built on years of experience teaching in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
I’ve combined the strongest elements from each education system — including structured literacy training, phonics expertise, and evidence-based practice — to create a programme tailored for Kiwi primary learners.
Everything at Bloom is designed with one goal: to build confident, capable readers and writers.

Kia ora, I am Steph
I began teaching in Early Years in England, helping children build the foundations of reading and writing. Since then, I’ve taught across all primary levels - from first phonics to advanced comprehension and turning reluctant writers into creative, confident storytellers.
I’m originally from Derby, England and now live in Auckland. I’m passionate about helping children feel capable and confident through structured literacy.
My Training and Expertise
✔️ Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Derby University, England
✔️ 8+ years teaching experience across NZ, Australia, and the UK
✔️ Structured Literacy & Phonics Training including Read Write Inc, Yolanda Soryl, Little Learners Love Literacy, The Code (Liz Kane), Heggerty and StepsWeb.
✔️ Writing training: Talk 4 Writing and Writers Toolbox
✔️ Experience supporting dyslexia and diverse learning needs
✔️ Ongoing professional development in the Science of Reading
